Sustainability 2019

Sustainable Practices

We love our Planet and want to make it a better place for future babes to enjoy! That's why Skatie has sustainability at the core of her business. We manufacture and source everything locally where we can regulate our labor and minimize our waste.

Most people don’t think about the process for making fabric. In reality, making fabric uses a large amount of water, energy and chemicals. The fashion industry is the third most polluting in the world and the second largest consumer of water. In order to make a positive impact on the industry, most of the fabric we use is 100% surplus fabric. Meaning that it was excess fabric that another designer was unable to use, and probably would have ended up in a landfill. In addition to surplus fabric, we use a new material that is made from 100% regenerated polyamide fiber from post-consumer materials. By locally sourcing surplus fabric whenever possible and using innovative fabric technology, we minimize environmental impacts caused from manufacturing, transportation and industry minimum waste.

You know whats not sustainable? Shipping bikinis across the ocean. You know what else is not sustainable - treating the people who make your suits like crap. Thats why we work with local manufacturers who pay above minimum wage and give paid time off. Because being a sustainable business means a lot more than just using recycled fabric.

Wondering why our prices are low but our quality is SUPER high? By selling direct to consumer we avoid the common retail markups.
